Most of the plant tissues are dead, since dead cells can provide mechanical strength as easily as live ones, and need less maintenance. Also plants have sedentary life i.e. they are fixed in one place.

Plants have more dead tissues as compared to animals because plants do not have skeletons like animals.
The dead tissues are hard and help the plants to remain upright. Also, the dead tissues provide mechanical support to the plants much like the live tissues. However, dead tissues need less maintenance and so plants have more dead tissues.
In addition, plants are stationary and do not move from one place to another like animals. This means that plants do not require energy for a movement like animals. This allows plants to support and have more dead tissues.
