1) water is necessary for the process of photosynthesis.

2) As plants go through the process of transpiration, where the water content is evaporated, plants need to maintain the level of water for survival.

Most of the water that the plants gets is from soil. It needs to maintain a high concentration of water than soil cause it needs water for it's survival whereas for soil water is not a basic neccesity
