Plants respire all the time because their cells need the energy to stay alive, but plants can only photosynthesise when they are in the light. PLANTS DO ALSO HAVE TO LIVE LIKE US,,AFTER ALL THY ARE ALSO A LIVING ORGANISMS AND NEDS ENERGY AND AIR TO CARRY OUT THEIR PROCESSES ....SO THEY NEED TO RESPIRE IN ORDER TO MAKE THEIR FOOD BY THE PROCESS OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
