The Portuguese had been engaged in trade with India since the time of Akbar.Jahangir was on good terms with them and gave them trade concessions. This led to conflict and Jahangir all the favours and banned the Portuguese to trade with the Marchants of mughal states until they made amends .Later the Portuguese realised their mistakes and were allowed to trade again.
