Hi dear !!!
+ve ions are created by loosing electron .
so simply understand they are in loss so they are smaller ..
and -ve ion Means they gain electron so .. they increase their area
so simply understand they are bigger in size .

the metals known as electro positive loses electrons and have smaller size of radii than the electro negative non metals.
