why do prices of food grains, fruits and vegetables rises during flood

During drought , there is no rainfall and the land becomes infertile and unsuitable for plants to grow and live . This results in decrease in production of food grains and vegetables . ... Thus the price of the food grains andvegetables increases in leaps and bounds during droughts.
