Why do producers always occupy the first trophic level on every food chain?

This is because producers absorb sunlight, abiotic factor and fix it into food chain. This energy is transferred to organisms in other trophic levels of the food chain.
And moreover producers are the base foundation of the food chain.Directly or indirectly every organism is dependent upon plants.
