why do raisins kept in water for sometimes swell up and the swelled up raisins placed in concentrated sugar solution for sometime shrink to previous form? ​

This is because of osmosis ,NOW LISTEN HOW-

the raisins has a semi permiable membrane as water concentration is high in container and low in raisins so water move in raisins making it swell up and as we know that in sugar solution water concentration is low and raisins have high water concentration so water move from raisin to sugar solution and that is why it shrink
