The roots of trees are deep mostly in the dry region. They are to get water in appropriate quantity.

Roots of trees are deep so that they can absorb more and more water and also so that xylem and phloem function properly by gathering the water from the deep roots...

They are also deep so that support is provided to them and They do not get uprooted easily..
