Answer:
Bill and Sam wanted to start a fraudulent scheme. For that, they needed 2600$. So they kidnapped the child of a prominent citizen named Ebenezer Dorset. They sent letter to Mr. Dorset mentioning that they demand 1500$ for the child's return. Mr.Dorset receives the letter and comes to meet them and ask them to take his child back and pay him 250$. This is where they realised that their plan got backfired. They gives Mr.Dorset the requested amount and takes the child with them. They chose the town of Summit because it will not be harmless much and all of them won't know that they did a crime.
Explanation:
They chose Ebenezer Dorset's child as Mr.Dorset was rich. He told to keep his child back because the neighbours feels that he's lost. If he comes back, All the neighbours will have their legs blue and black.
