Why do satellite use modulation techniques?

Satellite uses modulation techniques because the signal from the earth becomes very weak or distorted due to the presence of atmospheric noises.

The input signal has to be with carrier signal and it should be strengthened in order to get the original signal.

The modulation can be amplitude modulation, frequency modulation.. etc..
