why do scientists called it research when they are looking for something new? ​

Hey.....

Actually scientists can't find anything new without having a deep understanding and knowledge in that subject...So they do research on it digging deeper and deeper from the known facts to find the unknown...

So....from outside, we may feel that they are discovering something new all of a sudden...But actually that process involves decades of hardwork and experience, and referring century old ideas that got developed day-by-day..

So.. scientists can't discover anything new unless they 've done deep research in it...So we call them researchers...
