Why do Shia muslims mourn a lot?
Answers
In Shia Islam, there are various celebrations marking the birth anniversaries of the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.a), Hazrat Fatima (AS) and the twelve Holy Imams (AS) and likewise there are commemorations and mourning processions marking the death or martyrdom of these selected individuals. That is to say, it is not only mourning processions that are held in Shia Islam; there are various ceremonies that are being held.
Besides, some other blessed and historic days in the history of Islam (such as the day of the appointment of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a); the day of Ghadeer Khum; the day of Mubahala etc.) are been marked as the days of celebrations. Thus, in Shia Islam, rituals are held both in forms of ceremonies and likewise in forms of mourning. So far the ceremonies or the mourning processions are being held for the sake of Allah alone, it will be considered as rituals.
They are really very concerned about the death of hussain and show their sorrow in the way! But in my oponion it's not the right way to show sorrow and devotion. One should remember god and have faith in his powers.
