We shiver in winter because when our muscles and bones start cooling up then to get warmth and give warmth to our body our muscles start shivering automatically to get warmth....
Our body muscles start shivering only when our brain sends message to our body and the way which we can get warmth is shivering because after shaking our body we get warmth from that due to vibration...

Hope this helps ya...!!!

Heyaa folk,
-------------------------------------------------------
In winter, our skin gets dried and due to this, the tiny sensors in our skin tells the messages to our brain that the skin needs to warm. And thus, our brain sends messages to our nerves to tighten and loosen our muscles very fast. And we call it shivering. And this shivering causes because, when our muscles moves they generate the heat that time.
