Why do silver articles generally turn black when kept in open for few days ? Name the phenomenon involved.also write the equation.

Silver article turns black because they react with sulphur compounds such as H2S present in air. The phenomenon is called corrosion. For silver particularly, it is called tarnishing of silver. The black substance is silver sulphide (Ag2S).
