Metal generally react with oxygen to form Metal oxides...But silver doesnt react with oxygen present in the air...But it react with the Sulphur present in the air to form Silver sulphide...A layer of silver sulphide formed which makes silver articles dull and as a result silver articles loose their lusteres...
