any matter that is a solid has a definite shape and a definite volume the molecules in a solid init in the fixed position are closed together also the molecules can still vibrate they cannot move from one part of the solid part .As a result the solid molecules does not easily change its shape on its volume I hope it is useful please bike mark me as a brilliant answer

Solids have strong intermolecular forces of attraction. The constituent particles of solids cannot move from their position they can only vibrate from their mean position. That is why solids have a definite volume.
