Why do solids have a fixed shape but gases neither have a fixed shape nor a fixed volume?

as gas molecules are having large space between them

Because in Solids molecules are tightly packed and hence provide the shaping but in Gases molecules are free to move and hence don't have a fixed shape nor a fixed volume.
