Solids have a rigid or fixed shape because the molecules are very tightly packed in solids i.e., the intermolecular force of attraction between the molecules is very strong in solids and the another reason is that the molecules have very less space between them in solids i.e., the intermolecular space between the molecules is very small in solids.
Hope it helps.
