The molecules in a solid are in fixed positions and are close together. Although the molecules can still vibrate, they cannot move from one part of the solid to another part. As a result, a solid does not easily change its shape or its volume. Any matter that is a solid has a definite shape and a definite volume.

Solids have have a definite shape. Yes offcourse.This us because if 3 points. 1st the intermolecular forces is low, intermolecular forces of attraction is highest , they are not fluids , nor rigid. Because of the negligible spaces between them they don't have space to settle themselves and so they become rigid. This is the theory which proves the above characteristics of solids
