The intermolecular forces of attraction that are present in solids are very strong. The constituent particles of solids have fixed positions i.e., they are rigid. Hence, solids have a definite volume

because, the molecules in the solid are fixed position and close together. Although the molecules can still vibrate, they cannot move from one part of the solid to another part. as a result,a solid does not easily change its shape or it's volume
