Why do solids have open surface but the gas do not have?

Particles of solid are tightly packed b'coz of which they make a continuous surface. Gases also have a surface but it is very difficult to detect b'coz their particles are verrry loosely bound and so they are free to move and do not make a continuous surface. :) HOPE THIS HELPS IF HELP GIVE IT A BRANLIEST

While the particles of gases are very far away from each other and have least force of attraction between them. Therefore, gases do not have definite shape, they diffuse easily into air and hence have no open surface area
