hi,,,
Ovules in the ovary become seeds when the ovary is developing into a fruit.
So since some plants like mango are uniovulate (have one ovule) , the have one seed. Some fruits like papaya, watermelon have many ovules and hence after the ovary matures into a fruit, the ovules will turn into seeds and hence the fruits will have many seeds.
CONCLUSION ; It all depends on the number of ovules in the ovary. If there is one ovule , there will be one seed. If there is more than one ovule, there will be more than one seed in the fruit.

Some fruits have many seeds and some have one seed.
Explanation:
- The number of seeds in the fruits depends upon number of ovules they posses.
- The ovules are the precursors of seed development. The fertilization of the ovules result in the development of the seeds in plants.
- The more number of ovules in the ovary of flowers will lead to formation of more number of seeds.
- But in some plants seeds tend to be larger, as the flowers can only invest in one seed per fruit this is because of the greater investment of energy.
- The flowers that produce many seeds they tend to colonize more better and more number of plants can germinate.
