Plants need nitrogen to grow, while most of the plants get there dose of nitrogen from the soil nitrates, the carnivorous plants lack the supply as they live in bogs.

Thus in order to get the adequate amount of nitrogen which is essential for their growth carnivorous plants feed on insects.

Insectivorous Plants are plants which feed on insects

Insectivorous Plants grow in soil which do not contain sufficient nitrogen mineral.

But These plants are green and need to carry out photosynthesis to obtain a part of the food required.

So, insectivorous plants feed on insects to obtain the nitrogen needed for their growth.
