why do some plants feed on insects? How does a pitcher plants catch insects?

insectivorous plants feed on insects. they feed on insects because they grow in the soil which is deficient in nitrogen. so to fulfill their nitrogen requirements they feed on insects... pitcher plant's leaf is modified into a pitcher... the pitcher contains some sticky liquid which is sweet like honey........ so when an insect tries to taste that nectar.... it falls into the pitcher.......then it gets digested....
And they do not have chlorophyll so they cannot do photosynthesis
