Hey Mate...

Stars twinkle because of turbulence in the atmosphere of the Earth. As the atmosphere churns, the light from the star is refracted in different directions. This causes the star's image to change slightly in brightness and position, hence "twinkle.

This is due to atmospheric refraction. Star is a point sized source of light. When the light enters the different layers of atmosphere it's path changes due to different refractive index in the atmosphere and it fluctuates and the amount of light appearing in our flickers giving the twinkling effect
