Why do stars twinkle and planets do not twinkle ?? please explain in detail . thank you

Planets are closer to Earth compared to stars. So the light coming from them does not bend due to Earth's atmosphere. Whereas in case of stars due to long distance between Earth and a star the light travelling from far off distances bends and finally reaches Earth and so stars twinkle and not planets.
