stars dont twinkle. they appear to twinkle when viewed from earth. The light from the stars when they enter the earth atmosphere the light goes through different temperatures and densities. So the light gets deflected or bounces in different directions giving the appearance of twinkling

Stars twinkle due to the atmospheric refraction of light from stars and changing density of the air around the Earth.

Hope that helps......... :-)
