why do sugar and water retain their individual properties in solution

because in this mixture sugar and water particles remain separate.therefore we can say that atoms and molecules of components forming a mixture remain separate and do form in any substance.

Because it is a physical change . No new substance is formed and thus they retain their indiviual properties
