the Answer is that

  • liver acts as a store house to regulate the quantity of nutrients flowing into the general blood circulation.
  •  it performs functions such as detoxification, regulation of levels of compounds produced in the body.
  • also blood glucose concentration is maintained by liver.

thus due to above reasons blood flowing away from the stomach is put into circulation via liver and not directly.

The blood flowing from stomach and the intestine passes through the liver because the blood moving from these digestive organs contain nutrients and chemicals absorbed from the food. When the blood goes to the liver, the liver absorbs and metabolises all the nutrients into biologically useful materials.
