why do the dust particle full from the beaten cloth

When you hit a cloth with something like a stick, dust particles fall due to inertia of rest. Every body has a tendency to remind at rest or if in motion to remain at motion. i.e; inertia acts on a body which is constantly at rest or motion.

At rest the dust particle are present on the cloth.When u beat the cloth they fall down because of inertia of rest.If inertia was not acting on the particles then they would have moved with the cloth when it was beaten .
