Why do the hydrides of O and F in group 16 and group 17 respectively show abnormally high melting points and boiling points as compared to other hydrides in their respective groups. Explain?

Because of their high electronegativity the have a stronger bond with hydrogen then any other hydrates.
So to break the bond we require lot of energy hence the reason
