Because the chemical properties of an element depends on it's atomic number (i.e. the number of protons). for example : gold and silver has different atomic number and hence different properties. The isotopes of an element has different mass number but the same atomic number, hence they possesses identical chemical properties

As isotops are same elements with same atomic number ie same valence eletron , same valency , same group , same period
