Because Chemical properties depend on the electrons and not on the neutrons or protons . In isotopes the number of electrons are the same, so chemical properties are also same.

The properties of an element are determined by the number of protons in the nucleus. Isotopes have a different number of neutrons in the nucleus. ... Isotopes of an element have the same number of electrons as an atom of that element.
