Why do the leaves kept in the dark become yellow ??

in dark plant looses it's ability to produce New chlorophyll which leads them to become yellow.

Because sunlight can't reach to the leaves kept in the dark, thus resulting to lack of food as they can't perform food processing process called photosynthesis because of the absence of sunlight.
And chlorophyll also gets lost.
