Lipids are synthesised in smooth endoplasmic

reticulum (SER) , while proteins are synthesised

in the ribosomes which are attached to

the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER)

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not bear ribosome. It helps in the synthesis of lipids While, rough endoplasmic reticulum is associated with ribosomes. Ribosomes are site of protein synthesis.
