because the large area of the wheels will decrease the exerted by the load and it will withstand against it..... As:
Area is inversely proportional to the pressure

samriddhi2003: :-)
shravan1850: one more question can I ask
samriddhi2003: yes pls..
shravan1850: why does it happen? The wall of a dam is broad in base?
samriddhi2003: its broad in the base because, water in the lower portion of the dam gets deposited with silt and so it exerts max pressure on it...
shravan1850: thanks
samriddhi2003: and therefore to withstand against this pressure the is made broad
samriddhi2003: Anytime!!

Heavy vehicles have large no. of wheels bcoz as we know that more no. of wheels will cover more area and also pressure is inversely proportional to area so as we will increase the area....the pressure will decrease...so to decrease the pressure we increase the no. of wheels.
Hope... it will help u.
