Why do the protons not fly apart under this repulsion?

There is some force which keeps the particles in place. It is called nuclear force.
Nuclear force in the atom helds the nucleons(protons, neutrons) together from seperating. Though they repel an opposite force is acting them to attract. So the forces are balanced. This opposite force in the atom is called as nuclear force
