Sri lankan tamils feel alienated because no political organisation was concerned or they were not showing any intrest towards the development of Tamilians culture.
- An act of 1956 said that sinhala is the only official language of Sri lanka
- Constitution prescrobed that the state shall follow and foster buddhism.
- The govt followed preferential policies which favoured sinhalese for university positions, govt jobs etc.
Tamilians felt alienated due to the above mentioned factors.
