The star appear to move from West to East because of the Earth's rotation.
The Earth rotates toward the East; that makes the stars seem to move towards the West.
They don't really - they only appear to move east to west, due to the Earth's rotation...same as the sun.
Because the earth upon which you're standing is spinning ... one complete rotation every 24 hours.
That means that the direction your nose points is constantly changing.
Since you have to keep changing the direction you look in order to follow a star, you have the impression
that the star is moving.
