why do the stars twinkle??

Stars don't really twinkle, them seems to twinkle when seen from earth. they appears to twinkle due to the affect of our atmosphere. when light of stars enter our atmosphere then winds affect the light of star.. that's why star seems to twinkle.

* due to atmospheric refraction
* different layer of atmosphere have different   refractive index
