Why do the stee slopes of mountain have poor soil quality?
Answers
Answer:
Steep slopes such as occur on the sides of hills and mountains generally have shallow soils because soil that does develop is regularly washed down the hillsides into the valleys below. The vegetation on a soil is particularly important in supplying the soil with precious organic matter
Steep slopes have poor soil quality because of the following reasons:
Slopes are located on mountains and hillsides.
They are present at a higher altitude than valleys which are located on the lower side.
Due to their difference in altitude, the soil residues which get collected in the slopes get washed down to the lower-lying valleys.
Hence the amount of fertile soil which could be previously present in the steep slopes are not present anymore and the soil quality gets poor in quality leads to soil erosion.
Steep slopes of mountain have poor soil quality because the soil washed down because if rain from mountains.
