why do the temperature of a substance remain constant during its melting or boiling point.

because the heat which is supplied to the object when it reaches its melting point is used in the overcoming the force of attrection of the particle

here is ur ans..

It is because substance makes use of latent heat of fusion to overcome force of attraction between particles of solid to change into liquid during meltingand latent heat of vaporization to overcome force of attraction between particles of liquid to change into vapours during boiling.
