why do the textile industry occupy a unique position in Indian economy

because raw materials for textile industries are easily available in cheap rate so there are many textile industries in india .

because it contributes significantly to industrial production (14%) , employment generation . It contributes 4 % towards GDP. It is only industry in the country , which is self reliant and complete in the value chain .
