Why do the trees in littorial forest grow areal roots


panglem1: Have any one found the answer to my question.....Please help I need it urgently

Tress in littoral forest are supported by silted roots which are under water during high tide and , seen only during low tides
Such roots give them support to stand in marshy and tidal area
There the mud is soft and shifting
