The trachea is a tube which is narrowerthis helps in the connecting pharynx to the brinche of the resipiratory system .The trachea is supported by the series of cartiolaginous rings which are C shaped , that prevent it from collapsing , these rings can be felt in fron of neck . If you place the finger in front if neck and slip them against the neck this ring can be observed these prevent it frim collapsing as a result of pressure change
