Why do the whale explode when it is found dead?

Sea water is saline ie hypotonic. It creates pressure on the dead whale which has no more internal pressure. This external pressure causes the whale to burst.

Sea water is saline i.e. Hypotonic solution. The dead whale has no internal pressure to balance the external pressure of the deep sea. As a result sea water enters the whale through the mouth. Due to this unbalanced pressure the whale explodes.
