Answer:Density plays a part in why some things float and some sink. Objects that are more dense than water sink and those less dense float. Hollow things often float too as air is less dense than water. This is partly why huge heavy ships float.

Things flow because of  buoyant, or less dense than the fluid in which they are sitting. This does not mean that an object has to be lighter than the fluid, as in the case of a boat; objects just need to have a greater ratio of empty space to mass than the fluid.
