When the particles r closely packed together they form a solid state of matter....... when the particles r not too closely packed together n they can move they form a liquid state of matter....... when the particles r far apart they form gases form

We know that solid, liquid and the gaseous state of matter are the most commonly found states of matter. These states are physically quite distinct from each other primarily due to the following two factors
(a) Inter-particle forces
(b) Inter-particle spaces
Thus, the three states of matter exist because the magnitude of inter-particle forces and the amount of inter-particle spaces in all the three states of matter are different.
