Why do towns emerge around pilgrimage centres? Sometimes, pilgrimage towns also become trading centres. Why is it so?

This is because piligrimage centres are based on religious sanctity and many people believe in religions and thus, visit temples and other such religious structures. This gains fame for the city and morover, attracts more people. People start trading there too, which even gives you the ans. for the second question where it's asked why in some cases, pilgrimage centres turn ino trading centres.
